In a rapidly changing digital landscape, Web Hosting Magic is dedicated to securing your cPanel accounts and safeguarding your online presence like never before.
We partner with security experts to detect and prevent thousands of automated attacks targeted at our customers' cPanel accounts. These attacks include brute-force attempts and increasingly sophisticated methods like SQL attacks.
To tackle these evolving threats, we're introducing two new features: Splash Screen for cPanel Port Protection and the cPanel Password Reset Feature.
Splash Screen for cPanel Port Protection
One of the most common tactics cybercriminals use is brute-forcing cPanel login pages with automated scripts that try thousands of combinations. To counter this, we've added a Splash Screen to protect your cPanel port.
The Splash Screen presents a challenge to visitors on the cPanel login page, making it much harder for malicious actors to gain unauthorized access. As the rightful cPanel owner, you likely won't be affected by this challenge – your browser will handle it seamlessly. However, this serves as a roadblock for most bots and automated scripts, ensuring a more secure login process.
cPanel Password Reset Feature
Securing your cPanel accounts is our top priority. To ensure robust security, we've introduced an extra layer of protection that might seem a bit more involved.
For instance, if you need to reset your cPanel or cPanel Subaccount password, cPanel will send a security code to your contact email address. This is accessible through cPanel's Home, Preferences, and Contact Information sections.
This additional step helps shield your account's credentials.
On our platform, the cPanel primary account owner must request a password change. Once requested, cPanel will automatically reset the compromised password, though you won't receive a direct notification. Instead, our security team will be informed.
Why the Extra Steps?
While we could make it simpler for you to reset passwords, our experience shows that some customers might unknowingly choose weak passwords. By requiring a password change request, we ensure a higher level of security.
