Now that you are a hosting reseller partner, there are some of the things we want you to share with you that we believe will help.
1. Dedicated IP Address
Each reseller account that is deployed comes with a private dedicated IP address.
A dedicated IP address ensures that you are in sole control of your reputation even when you are sharing a server with other users.
This IP can be changed if and when you feel there is a need to, once per year.
Just create a ticket requesting for such and we will do just that,
2. Replicate DNS Settings
If possible (and we highly recommend this), replicate the DNS records on cPanel at your domain registrar.
That would help avoid browser's SSL warnings when you access cPanel URL with your IP address.
It might look something like this:
mail.$domain.com. | 14400 | IN | CNAME | domain.com |
www.$domain.com. | 14400 | IN | CNAME | domain.com |
ftp.$domain.com. | 14400 | IN | A | 12.345.678.901 |
$domain.com. | 14400 | IN | SPF | v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:12.345.678.901 ~all |
cpanel.$domain.com. | 14400 | IN | A | 12.345.678.901 |
webdisk.$domain.com. | 14400 | IN | A | 12.345.678.901 |
cpcalendars.$domain.com. | 14400 | IN | A | 12.345.678.901 |
cpcontacts.$domain.com. | 14400 | IN | A | 12.345.678.901 |
whm.$domain.com. | 14400 | IN | A | 12.345.678.901 |
webmail.$domain.com. | 14400 | IN | A | 12.345.678.901 |
where "$domain" stands for your domain name, ".com" for the domain's extension and "12.345.678.901" stands for your dedicated IP address.
3. Email Limits
Depending on the reseller tier, your reseller account may have a limit between 500 - 3000 emails per hour.
If this exceeded, you may experience mail delivery issues.
If your existing quota is not adequate for your needs or anticipate needing a higher quota than the system has allocated automatically, please open an Email Limits Increase case in Support Center.
However, this can only be approved if your reseller email has an acceptable number of bounces and complaints.
Often this is evaluated as less than 4%.
Having high numbers of bounces and complaints can adversely affect your sending limits increase.
4. Web Host Manager
To access your Web Host Manager using your domain and in the language of your choice, visit https://$domain.com:2087/ and then select a language from the options available.
Again, please do ensure that your domain records are resolvable by making sure that your account at the domain registrar, has the same records available in cPanel.
5. Nameservers
Since you have a Reseller account with us, you can register your own nameservers (ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com) to provide your clients with.
Private name servers are DNS name servers that are associated with a particular domain name, as opposed to being associated with those of Hostragon and available only to our Reseller, Dedicated and VPS hosting customers.
Many resellers choose to have their own name servers for appearance or branding reasons.
Using our anonymous nameservers of:
- cloud-dns1.webhostingmagic.com
- cloud-dns2.webhostingmagic.com
- cloud-dns3.webhostingmagic.com
- cloud-dns4.webhostingmagic.com
while completely autonomous can be a little bit unprofessional for you as a hosting company.
But if we carefully selected these so you can use them without anyone knowing any better.
If you wish to use a private name-server, follow these steps:
obtain IP addresses to point your private nameservers to.
once this is done, login to your domain registrar. Most Registrars will have a section similar to Maintain name servers under this domain, or it's sometimes referred to as glue, or host records as well.
if you are using GoDaddy, you must first go to "Manage DNS", then the "Settings" tab and scroll down to "Host Names" in order to complete Step 3. in the "Activating Name Servers with your Registrar" of this tutorial.
go ahead and register them at your domain registrar by creating an A record for the nameservers by entering in the part before your domain name e.g: ns1.exmaple.com for instance, and then your shared IP address.
repeat the same step again for the ns2 host as well.
repeat this process on your main website cPanel:
- Login to the cPanel for the domain you want to be included in the Nameservers.
- Under Domains click the Zone Editor button.
- Click "Manage"
- Click the arrow next to Add Record to select A record type.
- Enter the appropriate information for the record type that you selected
- Click Add Record.
If you want to do it from WHM:
- Log in to WebHost Manager.
- From the WebHost Manager home screen, click DNS Functions, and then click Edit DNS Zone.
- Select the primary domain for your account, and then click Edit. The DNS zone information for the domain appears.
- Scroll down the page to the Add New Entries Below this Line section.
- In the first text box, type ns1. Leave the value 14400 in the second text box.
- In the list box, select A.
- In the IP or Hostname text box that appears, type the IP address of the first name server.
- In the second text box, type ns2. Leave the value 14400 in the second text box.
- In the list box, select A.
- In the IP or Hostname text box that appears, type the IP address for the second name server.
- Scroll to the end of the page, and then click Save. You are now ready to register the name servers.
then assign them to your Web Host Manager (WHM) by:
- logging in to WHM.
- click Server Configuration
- click the Basic cPanel & WHM Setup.
- enter your new nameservers, and
- click the Save Changes button.
and lastly, do let us know once you have completed these steps by submitting a support ticket our engineers can add the new custom nameservers to our DNS cluster.
From now one, any account you create will use the default nameservers.
If your domain is registered with us, you have full access to the management tools from the client area.
Once you logged in, you can:
- view and change the current nameservers,
- change the lock status of their domain*,
- change the auto-renewal setting,

6. Security
To ensure your account's security, make certain to create a strong password:
- Create a strong password:
Use a different password for each of your important accounts (for example, your email accounts). Use a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols in your password.
- Activate two-factor authentication.
Relying on just usernames and passwords to secure your online accounts is no longer considered safe. Data breaches occur daily and hackers are always inventing new ways to take over your accounts.
Protect yourself by enabling two-factor authentication (2FA). This blocks anyone using your stolen data by verifying your identity through your device.
Adding two-factor authentication (2FA), an improved security measure for the login interface of cPanel & WHM. Two-factor authentication requires two forms of identification:
- a password
- the generated security code
When you enable 2FA, an application on your smartphone supplies a code that you must enter your password to log in.
Without your smartphone, you cannot log in.2FA requires a smartphone with a supported time-based one-time password (TOTP) app. We suggest the following apps:
To enable this:
- Login to your WHM
- Click on Security Center
- Click on Two-Factor Authentication and follow the prompt.
7. Add Hosting Packages
- Login to your WHM
- Click on Packages
- Click on Feature Manager. This allows you to edit feature lists, which you can assign to packages that you apply to cPanel accounts. Feature lists provide or prevent access to specific cPanel features.
- Create a new feature list at Feature Manager » Feature Lists
- Go back to Package
- Click "Add A Package"
- Add the resources you want to make available for the package
- Click "Save"
