The cPanel MySQL Database Wizard is designed to guide you through the setup of a MySQL® database, user accounts, and user privileges.

As a new cPanel user, this is the recommended way to create your first database and user.

MySQL Database Wizard

  • Login to cPanel
  • In the New Database text box, enter a name for the database and click Next Step.
  • In the Username text box, enter a name for the user who you wish to allow to manage the database.
  • Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes.
  • Click Create User.
  • Select the checkboxes that correspond to the privileges that you want to grant the user, or select ALL PRIVILEGES.
  • Click Next Step.

After you complete the database setup process, select one of the following options:

  • Add another database — Click to return to the beginning of the MySQL Database Wizard interface to add more databases.
  • Add another MySQL Databases User — Click to open the MySQL Databases interface (cPanel >> Home >> Databases >> MySQL Databases) to create additional user accounts and assign them to a database.
  • Return to Home — Click to return to the cPanel Home interface.

Please note that when you use the MySQL Database Wizard interface to add a user and a database, the system automatically grants the user access to the database.

So you do not need to use the Add User to Database feature in the MySQL Databases interface (cPanel >> Home >> Databases >> MySQL Databases).

PostgreSQL Database Wizard

This also was designed to help guide you through the setup of your first PostgreSQL® database, user accounts, and user privileges.

To create additional databases or users, use the PostgreSQL Databases interface (cPanel >> Home >> Databases >> PostgreSQL Databases).

  • Login to your cPanel
  • In the New Database text box, enter a name for the database and click Create Database.
  • In the Username text box, enter a name for the user who you wish to allow to manage the database.
  • Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes.
  • Click Create User.
  • Review the User and Database names and click Submit to add the new user to the new database.

The system will display a message that states that the system set up the database and user account successfully.

After you complete the database setup process, select one of the following options:

  • Add another database — Click to return to the start of the PostgreSQL Database Wizard to add more databases.
  • Add another PostgreSQL Databases User — Click to open the PostgreSQL Databases interface (cPanel >> Home >> Databases >> PostgreSQL Databases) to create additional user accounts and assign them to a database.
  • Return to Home — Returns you to the cPanel Home interface.

Again, when you use the PostgreSQL Database Wizard to add a user and a database, the system automatically grants the user access to the database.

Please do not use the Add User to Database feature in the PostgreSQL Databases interface (_cPanel >> Home >> Databases >> PostgreSQL Databases_).
