If you notice that you are missing expected emails after creating a spam filter in cPanel, you can either delete the spam filters created.

Or alternatively, you can choose to disable spam auto-delete.

That way you can manually inspect and mark these as valid emails.

Please note that the option to automatically delete spam messages is disabled by default.

But if someone has enabled this before, there are several locations where you can disable spam auto-delete in cPanel.

How To Disable Spam Auto-Delete in cPanel

Disabling via Email Interface:

  • Log into your cPanel Account.
  • Locate the Email pane and click on Spam Filters.
  • Once the page loads, toggle the Auto-Delete button to disable it.

Disabling via Webmail Interface

  • Log into your cPanel Account.
  • Scroll to Email and click on Email Accounts.
  • Select the email address, and click the "Check Email" button on the right-hand side.
  • Once inside the Webmail interface, scroll down a bit until you see Spam Filters. Again by default, this should be in disable status.
  • You can either keep this or use the Spam Auto-Delete Threshold to tell the server to discard any emails whose spam score meets or exceeds a designated threshold.

There is another Spam Filter in the pull-down on the top-right-hand side.

Clicking it will bring you the same Spam Filters interface.

Once you have completed your task, log out from the Webmail or cPanel session.

The cPanel team recommends using Spam Box (enabled by default) instead of Auto-Delete.

The reason is that with Spam Box, you can recover messages marked as SPAM from your email account's spam folder.
