I want to purchase a new web hosting service but the due payment during checkout is different from the web hosting product page or order form. What gives?
Ah ... you are probably referring to our pro rata billing.
We use pro-rata billing for web hosting packages.
Prorata billing synchronizes billing to a specific day of the month which for us is the 1st of each month.
This makes it convenient for our customers because knowing your obligation is on the 1st of each month makes it easier to plan ahead.
Moreover, this reduces the number of invoices our customer receives and provide a consolidated view of purchased services.
For new Web Hosting Magic customers, when you purchase a web hosting package at the end of a month, pro rata billing helps ensure that your initial payment is for the remaining part of that month.
For example, purchasing a web hosting product and/or hosting addon on November 18th, 2022 would result in the following billing periods and billing cycles.
The price and recurring amount for the HardenedPHP Origin hosting package at https://dashboard.webhostingmagic.com/store/secure-php-hosting/hardenedphp-origin is $5.00
You paid $2.17 as the first payment amount.
That is:
$5 / 30 days = 0.166 per day
30 days - 18 = 12
0.166 * 12 days = $1.92 + tax
With this, your next invoice for 2022-12-01 - 2022-12-31 will be the standard $5.00 on the first of December.
