cPanel Webmail clients cannot read the PST format.

To import a PST file to a cPanel email account, you need to convert it first to a usable format.

There are things to keep in mind before you initiate this process.

  • Disk space: Email importation may eat up your storage.
  • Security: Email importation has the possibility of transferring malware and viruses to your web hosting account
  • Privacy: Using a third-party tool to convert your email format (e.g .pst) to Roundcube-supported format (MIME .eml and Mbox .mbox) exposes those emails to people who shouldn't have access to them

If you have existing emails and want to keep them for record purposes, import them to Google (if you have a Google account), Outlook (if you are a Microsoft user), and others.

Recreate the email using cPanel and the newly created email addresses should start receiving emails once the MX is correctly set up.

Another option would be to import the .pst file (if you connect through IMAP to a cPanel email account) using an Outlook client.

Please see how to manage .pst files in Microsoft Outlook

But frankly, you can use still get all emails to Microsoft Outlook without touching anything.

cPanel is that sophisticated.

All you need is to forward emails to your Outlook.

And from then, all emails that arrive for the address will come to your Outlook inbox.

You can use the "Automatically configure my device" option to configure these clients:

  • iOS for iPhone/iPad/iPod and MacOS® Mail.app®
  • Mozilla Thunderbird® Auto Config
  • KDE Kmail Auto Config
  • Mail for Windows® 10 Auto Discovery
  • Microsoft Outlook 2010® for Windows® Auto Discovery
  • Windows Live Mail® IMAP over SSL/TLS POP3 over SSL/TLS IMAP POP3 (Post Office Protocol v3)
  • Microsoft Outlook 2007® for Windows®

Once done, you can start forwarding all emails to Outlook using either

If you must though:

  1. Visit the Roundcube interface of the account you wish to import to.
  2. Click the gear option in the bottom right.
  3. From the folder menu select "Import Messages".
  4. Select the file for uploading using the file picker when the pop-up comes up by clicking "Browse".
  5. Upload mail using files in MIME or Mbox format.
  6. You import multiple files if they are compressed into zip archives. It is worth noting that e-mail attachments are usually encoded using base64 encoding which will likely result in a file attachment size of around 30 percent larger than the original file.
  7. With a file selected click the "OK" button.

Roundcube will begin the upload and import.
